The practice has grown and undergone a few changes in structure over recent months, and with that comes the great news that Architect Phillip Shepherd has been appointed as Associate.

Phill’s been with the practice since 2007 and completed his training in 2013. During his time with us he’s delivered projects including King Edwards College in Stourbridge, which has recently been shortlisted by the BDA for an award for Innovative use of Brick. He was project Architect for the Woodbrooke Quaker Centre in Bournville, which was the first project we delivered using Weinerberger’s innovative Porotherm clay block walling system. Phill also delivered the Rhubarb office development in Digbeth during his Part 1 year out, which was our first load bearing light steel framed building and had one of the first green walls to be installed on a commercial building in Birmingham.

Most recently he’s been delivering the new Skills Centre in Erdington. This new £4m state-of-the-art technology teaching centre is located at Birmingham Metropolitan College’s Erdington campus. Phill took the decision to align the scheme’s frontage to the local residential vernacular by breaking down the massing into a series of gables, echoing the rhythm of nearby terraced houses.

Phill has also been leading our recent move to BIM (Building Information Modelling). As Project Architect for the new Silver Blades ice rink in Leeds, this will be the first project fully delivered in BIM software Archicad.
